The day after our first WeLevitate x World of Dance meet, I caught up with my new friend Ryan Feng. Ryan—or JustFeng, as he is known on Instagram—is a multi-talented Emmy award-winning choreographer, “America’s Best Dance Crew” season 3 (and 8!) champion, photographer, and actor.
The angle he presented, however, was as a humble artist who talked passionately about his career, what he did for a living and what his next project was going to be. We met the day before, at the meet, where he told me he had been a fan of #Welevitate for a while, expressing he had taken the opportunity of being in NYC judging the WOD competitions to join us. Thankful for his presence and sad we weren’t able to converse fully, I decided to invite him to hang out and shoot the next day.
We met up on a cold rainy Monday in the grungy part of LES. The clouds seem to be getting thicker as we began shooting, so, unfortunately, we were only able to shoot for less than an hour (35 minutes to be exact, the other 25 minutes were spent walking to and from locations). Nevertheless, Ryan and I had a great time talking about topics such as “what makes photography artistic” and “what lens is good for levitation photography” amidst thicker and thicker water droplets falling down on our gear while under the Williamsburg Bridge.
Super hyped to share with you some images from my one hour adventure walking around the Lower East Side with my guy Ryan Feng!
