Based on the list of features you have been looking for, your fitness tracker could fall in a perfectly affordable category or could make you yearn for that last penny you saved. It all depends on what you really need and what you might be lured into wanting. 

I still wouldn’t recommend going for a cheap fitness tracker since most of them are nothing else but plain ‘cheap’. Even from famous fitness tracker brands like the Fitbit, the cheaper models don’t have a full display and will make you swap to the app to get complete details of your recent workout. Be mindful of what your choice has to offer. 

All that bling – The features

The features depend entirely on the ways you intend to use your fitness tracker. If you wish to track your calories burned, your pulse rate, and the distance you traveled on your mountain bike you are definitely going to need a heart rate monitor and an active GPS. However, if you just want to track your steps as you stroll around the neighborhood for a regular walk, then you can do all right without a heart rate monitor or GPS even. 

If you are an active swimmer and wish to monitor your laps in the swimming pool then you might want to pay a little attention to the fitness trackers’ ability to stay waterproof and track swimming effectively.

Pay attention to the wristband 

Trust me when I say that you are truly blessed if you have average-sized wrists since you have been saved from the labor of getting the right wristband fit. However, if your wrists are on a slimmer or thicker side of the wrist spectrum then you might have to pay a little attention to the wristbands that come with the fitness trackers. 

Famous brands typically offer wristbands in small, medium, and large sizes adjustable to your wrist size. 

The strap style is another important consideration, make sure you check if it is a traditional watch strap with a buckle or does it harness together by a clickable button. The latter is a little less reliable when it comes to using the watch while tackling it hard at the gym. 

Most fitness trackers come with the option of band replacements to let you upgrade material, color and even the fit of the wristband to give you the whiff of the fresh morning air. 

The best fitness trackers for large wrists

Shopping for a fitness tracker is like going shoe shopping, size matters! Generally, most bands are adjustable and are designed to fit a range of wrist sizes. However, if you have a wrist that is predominantly larger in circumference then you might have to keep an open eye to the options that should work for you. 

The top fitness trackers that can fit larger wrists are:

  1. Fitbit Charge 3 – Their large size wrist band can fit wrist sizes between 7.1 – 8.7 inches in circumference.
  2. Fitbit Versa 2 – This one too can fit 7.1 to 8.7-inch wrists. 
  3. Garmin Forerunner 245 – This one doesn’t come with the largest straps, but it can still fit wrist sizes from 5 to 8 inches. 

Best fitness trackers for smaller wrists

If you have a wrist that is particularly petite, I know how challenging it gets to find the right fit. And the last thing we’d want is our fitness tracker sliding around our wrist as we go around running or working out during the day. It is borderline embarrassing, I’d agree.

Following are the best fitness trackers that fit dainty wrists like glove-er watch: 

  1. Garmin Vivosmart 4 –This is an all-rounder I’d say. It can fit wrists as small as 4.8 inches and as large as 7.4 inches. Impressive, isn’t it?
  2. Fitbit Inspire – This one is a comprehensive design with the ability to fit wrists between 5.5 and 7.1 inches. 
  3. Fitbit Inspire HR – This is the same Fitbit inspire but with the upgrade of a heart rate monitor also fits wrists between 5.5 to 7.1 inches.
