The 2017 World of Dance Finals will be held in Pasadena on July 22, 2017, and we can’t wait. This annual event features the winners of World of Dance competitions around the world—the best of the best—facing off to win the title, plus performances by industry starts, vendors, DJs, artists, and a lot more. In anticipation of this must-see event, we’re getting to know the many competitors from around the world.

Today, we’re meeting C4, Upper Division Winners of the World of Dance Montreal 2017. We caught up with the crew to find out how they met, what it was like to compete in WOD, what they’re looking forward to, and more.

Crew name: C4

Title: Upper Division Winners of the World of Dance Montreal 2017

Hometown: Laval, Quebec (Canada)

Members: Aileen Castro, Laurence Brière, Solène Filion Danis, Cynthia Giard, Anna Zakharova

WOD: Can you give us a little background about the crew: how long have you been together/how did you meet?

C4: C4 is an all-female dance crew that was originally created in 2011 by Eric “Zig” Martel, b-boy and director of Rebelles & Vagabonds, a dance studio that specializes in street dance and in the promotion of the Hip Hop culture.

WOD: Other than winning first place, what was your favorite part of competing at the World of Dance qualifier?

C4: A significant moment for us competing at WOD Montreal was just to be able to share our vibe with the crowd and showcase our style of dance in front of other dancers of all ages and experience.

WOD: What do you think made your performance stand out enough to win?

C4: We think that we were able to win this competition mainly because of our ability to try to capture the true essence of each dance style (e.g,. hip hop, popping, breaking), all while remaining original with our piece.

WOD: What’s your crew’s dance philosophy?

C4: C4’s main philosophy is quite simple and is the same as that of the Hip Hop culture: peace, love, unity, and having fun!

WOD: What are you most excited about for the WOD Finals in Pasadena?

C4: The whole crew is honestly just excited about having the opportunity to dance in the finale of WOD in Pasadena. We are just humbled to be able to participate amongst other talented dancers from all around the world!

To keep up with C4, follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
